WHERE TO APPLY

Do you know how many four-year degree-granting institutions there are in the United States?

If you guessed approximately 2,000 - you're right.

So how do you decide which of those 2,000 colleges to apply to?

Most people start by narrowing down parameters such as location, selectivity, and cost. This is a great place to start, but there are definitely other elements to consider.

This video shows you how to use BigFuture's search function to narrow down your potential colleges.

FINALIZING YOUR COLLEGE LIST

CREATING YOUR APPLICATION TIMELINE

One of the things that makes the college application process so overwhelming is the sheer amount of tasks involved.

Writing essays, submitting forms, studying for tests, asking for letters of recommendation- it's easy for something to slip through the cracks.

One way to keep it all organized? An application completion calendar. Separate each part of the process into small tasks, and assign those tasks to a specific week. Then, if you follow your own schedule, you'll be completing three small tasks a week rather than frantically working the night before a deadline.

At the bottom of the document, fill in your college list and the application deadlines. Then go back through and use the provided template to assign specific tasks to each week.

If you have an off week and don't complete all your scheduled tasks - that's okay! Just shift them around to fit your schedule.

Previous clients have said this calendar was their savior during the application process and helped ensure that they confidently submitted well-prepared application packages when the deadlines came.
